Electric Supply explanation

Residential electricity supply options

At NYSEG, we aim to empower our customers to make informed decisions about their energy supply. Regardless of who you choose to supply your energy, we don't make a profit on the supply charges.

Energy prices change according to the demand, seasonally and daily. That's why months like February and July usually have higher prices as extreme weather increases demand.

NYSEG buys on your behalf

This is the default option, unless you choose an Energy Services Company (ESCO). We purchase your electricity for you. As the supply price changes according to the market, you can expect a variable rate on your monthly bill.

Energy Services Company (ESCO) supply

ESCOs may offer fixed or variable supply prices, different contract terms or additional services. If choosing an ESCO, ensure you understand the terms and possible rate variations before choosing your supplier.
