RG&E to Plant Trees Outside Habitat for Humanity Homes in Rochester for Arbor Day

Habitat for Humanity homes will get one to two Cherry trees planted at each property

The Company will plant 50 trees at various locations throughout the Spring and Summer

ROCHESTER, NY — April 24, 2024 — Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) will be planting trees outside homes recently built by Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity to celebrate Arbor Day. RG&E will also plant 50 trees in Rochester throughout the Spring and Summer. Three homes recently built by the Company’s and Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity’s volunteers will have one to two Cherry trees planted at each property on April 26, starting at 11 a.m. Crews will work throughout the day, with more tree plantings scheduled at a later date.

The Company will plant trees at the following locations:

  • 344 Garson Avenue, Rochester
  • 321 Parsells Avenue, Rochester
  • 179 Melville Street, Rochester

An RG&E representative will be available at the Garson Avenue location at 11 a.m.

This is a new initiative for RG&E, to plant trees to help bring life back to urban communities. While trees are a leading cause of power interruptions, the Company’s vegetation management crews continuously work to maintain them along power lines, providing safe and reliable service to customers. RG&E remains committed to the environment, recognizing the value trees have in our neighborhoods, by replacing trees removed due to decay and age with new ones.
