RG&E to Hold Two Smart Meter Open Houses in Canandaigua Area in March

Company to host informational open houses in Farmington and Canandaigua for customers to learn about the installation of smart meters


RG&E has installed more than 185,000 smart meters


ROCHESTER, NY — March 1, 2024 — Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) customers in our Canandaigua region, which includes Ontario county, are having smart electric meters and natural gas meter modules installed now through the end of the year. The Company will host two informational open houses in the Canandaigua area to provide residents, business owners, and municipal officials with information about installations, including the scope of work, timeline, and customer benefits. There is no formal presentation. Customers are invited to come at any time during the event and talk to project representatives about smart meter installations.

Registration for the open house is not required and all are welcome.

All residential and most business customers in RG&E’s service areas will receive the new electric standard smart meter or natural gas module. An explanation of how this technology works will be provided. Informational displays and RG&E representatives will be available to share more details about the installation process, answer questions, and demonstrate how smart meters will provide customers with more convenience, control, and expanding choice in understanding and managing their energy use.

RG&E expects to complete smart meter installations in 2024 for this area. Customers will receive information about their installation a few weeks before they begin in their neighborhood.
