RG&E to Distribute Dusk-to-Dawn Lightbulbs, Energy Efficiency Kits Thursday

Part of the “Light Up the Night” initiative with the Rochester Police Department


Well-lit neighborhoods deter crime in light of car break-ins around the city


ROCHESTER, N.Y. — November 8, 2023 — Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) and the Rochester Police Department (RPD) will distribute “dusk-to-dawn” lightbulbs at the Rochester Public Safety Building on Thursday. It’s part of the “Light Up the Night” initiative, designed to increase safety and security in the community. These bulbs are designed for better illumination when the sun sets. RG&E and members of the RPD will also hand out energy efficiency kits. The kits are beneficial for lighting doorsteps or front entrances of residences. They include “dusk-to-dawn” lightbulbs, door sweeps, power strips, and faucet and shower head extenders.

Residents can pick up their energy efficiency kits while supplies last at the following location:

Thursday, November 9
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Public Safety Building, 185 Exchange Blvd, Rochester
