RG&E’s $180,000 Economic Development Grant Powers SUNY Polytechnic Institute Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering’s Smart System

Canandaigua, NY - RG&E, a subsidiary of AVANGRID (NYSE: AGR), has awarded the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering’s (CNSE) Smart System Technology & Commercialization Center (STC) in Canandaigua a $180,000 economic development grant for electric infrastructure improvements. Those improvements consist of three state-of-the-art electrical transformers that have been installed at the STC facility to condition the building’s electricity, enabling STC and its partner companies to enhance power quality within the facility. The transformers will help minimize voltage fluctuations which could affect products that are in-process on some of the most advanced semiconductor equipment in the world.

Lynch, president and CEO of NYSEG and RG&E. “This particular grant aligns with Governor Cuomo’s strategy for fostering high-tech partnerships that bolster and expand New York State’s innovation economy. SUNY Poly CNSE’s STC, RG&E and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) are also collaborating on an energy efficiency study to evaluate heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems at the Canandaigua facility. RG&E will likely provide supplemental economic development funding assistance for recommended improvements by NYSERDA in those building conditioning systems.

Since 2010, NYSEG and RG&E have invested more than $65 million to help existing businesses expand and to attract new business investments.
