Longtime RG&E Employee Recognized by Rochester Mayor and County Executive for 44 Years of Service

December 5, 2023 declared Joe Rizzo day


City and County recognize Rizzo’s work in economic development, making long term impacts for New York’s economy


ROCHESTER, NY — December 6, 2023 — The City of Rochester and Monroe County declared December 5, 2023 as Joe Rizzo Day. Rochester Mayor Malik Evans and Monroe County Executive Adam Bello recognized the accomplishments of longtime Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) employee Joe Rizzo on his 44 years of service at the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation (RDDC) luncheon this week.

Rizzo is manager of Economic Development for RG&E. He has spent much of his career building connections and relationships with businesses across the region. Rizzo’s collaboration with community partners has helped the Company retain businesses and encourage development of new businesses in the Rochester area. He’s led hundreds of projects that have contributed to billions of dollars in investments, creating jobs for long term impacts to upstate New York’s economy.

“Joe’s leadership and commitment is a testament to his dedication with the Company,” said Patricia Nilsen, president and CEO of NYSEG and RG&E. “He’s the definition of a community servant, treating each customer with kindness and care. It’s been an honor to work alongside Joe and I’m happy to see him receive the recognition he deserves.”

Rizzo’s dedication and work ethic have left a lasting impression on city and county leaders. He leaves a legacy that will always be remembered as he plans for retirement at the end of the year.
