RG&E proposed up to $5 million to bring fairlife to Monroe County

BINGHAMTON, NY — June 6, 2024 — Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) will provide up to $5 million in economic development grants to help bring the fairlife, LLC dairy processing plant to Webster, NY. The project was named Project of the Year by the New York State Economic Development Council last week.

“We leveraged relationships our parent company, Avangrid, has around the globe to meet fairlife’s ambitious timeline and obtain a transformer to power the new plant,” said Joe Sayre, manager of Economic Development for New York State Electric & Gas and RG&E. “Collaboration is the cornerstone of economic development, and we would like to congratulate all the local, regional, and state entities that made this project a reality for Monroe County.”

The fairlife project is expected to contribute to the tax base, job creation, and community improvement in Webster. It will be the largest and most sophisticated dairy processing plant of its kind in the world when it is completed in 2026. The $660 million investment to bring it to the Rochester area was driven not only by RG&E, but in collaboration with New York State Economic Development, Monroe County Planning and Development, Greater Rochester Enterprise, Empire State Development, and the Town of Webster.
