A message from President & CEO Carl A. Taylor to our customers

The last several months have been a challenging time for our communities as we all deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. Few could have predicted the situation that we’ve faced, but despite the challenges, our mission to provide you with safe and reliable energy service remains the same. While my personal motto of, “Customers First” remains a guiding principle, supporting and caring for the communities that we serve has become equally paramount. As our state and regions begin to re-open, I wanted to take a moment to share with you what you can expect from RG&E.

In the coming weeks, RG&E will begin to resume work that was delayed by the COVID-19 situation. As energy is considered an essential consumer product, much of our work has continued despite the pandemic, however, our goal moving forward is to expand our efforts to include important customer-facing tasks that were postponed out of an abundance of caution.

To accomplish this safely and effectively, we will implement a phased approach, starting with work that directly supports customer safety and service reliability. After that, we will resume activities that you would traditionally expect us to perform or that you request.

Our culture and commitment to safety has expanded during this time, requiring everyone to re-evaluate their understanding of workplace safety. At RG&E, we too have adjusted the way we function to ensure that we keep our customers, communities and employees safe.

As we resume additional activities you can expect to see our employees continue to engage in physical social distancing when interacting with you, in addition to wearing appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary. The company will also continue our practice of health and safety checks prior to employees starting their shifts. For work that requires us to enter your home, our employees will attempt contact to ensure no one in the household shows symptoms of COVID-19.

While not every task will begin right away, please know that our approach has been developed with great care and concern for your safety and that we value you as a customer. I wish you and your family well in the months ahead and hope you have an enjoyable summer.
