Your natural gas bill is composed of
Supply charges
We make no profit from this.
What you pay for the energy you use. We buy energy on your behalf or you can choose an ESCO (Energy Services Company) as your supplier.
Taxes and Surcharges
We make no profit from this.
What you pay in state mandated charges, like state taxes and energy efficiency funding.
Delivery charges
We are allowed to earn a specified rate of return on these charges.
This helps pay for critical support like pipes maintenance, customer service, upgraded equipment and more.
Natural gas supply
At RG&E, we aim to empower our customers to make informed decisions about their energy supply. Regardless of who you choose to supply your energy, we don't make a profit on the supply charges.
Energy prices change according to the demand, seasonally and daily. Be aware that natural gas prices tend to rise in colder weather.
RG&E buys on your behalf
This is the default rate if you do not choose an Energy Services Company (ESCO). The price per therm is adjusted on the first of each month.

Energy Services Company (ESCO) supply option
ESCOs may offer fixed or variable supply prices, different contract terms or additional services. If choosing an ESCO, ensure you understand the terms and possible rate variations before choosing your supplier.
